Join the Associates, a dynamic member group dedicated to fostering arts appreciation through social and arts education activities and deeper engagement with the Vancouver and international art scene. Associate members support the work of the Gallery through annual fundraising events and travel programs.

Special Events and Travel Programs

Associates are invited to attend the following exclusive special events and art travel programs, to which additional fees apply.
  • Occasional visits to private art collections and corporate collections
  • Opportunities to tour public art in the Vancouver area with knowledgeable guides
  • Invitations to local, national and international art travel programs. Recent cities visited include Paris, Montreal, New York and Victoria
  • Invitations to the Associates' Annual Gala
  • Opportunities to socialize with other visual arts supporters over fine food in attractive venues

Private Collectors Tour:
Bruce Munro Wright
On April 23, join us for a private tour of Vancouver philanthropist and art enthusiast Bruce Munro Wright's collection.

Showcasing a vast range of works by Canadian artists including Roy Arden, Peter Aspell, Dana Claxton, Andrew Dadson, Geoffrey Farmer, Ron Terada, Douglas Coupland, Jack Shadbolt amongst others, this tour invites you for an exclusive afternoon of art and wine.

COST*: $75 per person

Trip To Ottawa
Celebrate Canada's 150th Anniversary, the blossoming of fresh tulips and terrific art with your fellow Associate Members in the beautiful city of Ottawa. Members will enjoy visits to artist studios, art collections, as well as private tours to museums and other significant sites.

COST*:*: $2100 per person, including $300 donation (with tax receipt)

Monday Morning Art Study Group

New to the Associates? In this informal setting, you’ll meet others who share your interest in art. Join the study group in the Gallery’s Room 302 (unless otherwise indicated below) every second Monday for an introduction to new artists or a revisit with one of the masters. Doors open at 10:30am with refreshments available. Registration not required.

Non-members are welcome on a one-time basis and for a fee of $20 cash at the door. Please plan to arrive in time for the start of the program at 11am in Room 302 (one of the old courtrooms) in the annex of the Gallery and finish by noon. Come early for refreshments and socializing.

Artist' Studio Tours

Throughout the year, the Associates also visit artist studios to witness first-hand the artist's creative process and to discuss his or her work.

    With the natural world a constant source of interest and concern, Dana creates exquisite portraits of plants as well as urban scenes backed by beautiful landscapes.

    Artist’s Studio Tour: Lil Chrzan

    This Emily Carr grad paints the beauty of the coast bathed in golden light. After our visit with Lil Chrzan we’ll enjoy a no-host lunch at Olive + Anchor, 6418 Bay St., West Vancouver.

Names and addresses of other lunch sites at a later date. There will be charge of $5 to cover the cost of artists’ lunches.

Art in the Morning

The Associates meet on the third Friday of the month at 10am for a guided tour of a current Gallery exhibition.

These popular guided tours of current exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery resume after our winter hiatus on Friday, January 20. Meet docent Darlene Forrester by the coat check in the gallery lobby for a one-hour guided tour of Vancouver Special: Ambivalent Pleasures, followed by a discussion.
