Supporting the Gallery’s future, year after year…

The Vancouver Art Gallery Foundation was established in 1998 with the goal of creating a permanent fund to offer a steady base of operating support for the Gallery in perpetuity. These crucial funds support the long-term objectives and operations of the Vancouver Art Gallery. The Foundation’s endowment fund is guided by a Board of Directors. A percentage of the income earned from the endowment fund is distributed to the Gallery each year to support its exhibitions and programs.

Gallery staff and the Board of Directors of the Foundation are committed to ensuring that the intent and value of donor contributions are preserved in perpetuity. The Foundation’s Directors serve on a volunteer basis.

For a complete list of all Vancouver Art Gallery donors and sponsors, including Vancouver Art Gallery Foundation donors, please view the Gallery’s 2008/2009 Annual Report.

Estate Gifts and Named Endowments

A gift through your estate to the Vancouver Art Gallery Foundation helps to ensure that future generations will experience outstanding exhibitions and programs at the Gallery. An estate gift provides the donor with tax benefits while ensuring the long-term health of the Gallery. Planned gift donors are encouraged to have their plans reviewed by their professional advisors and by the Gallery. All information pertaining to donors and donations received by the Foundation is considered absolutely confidential.

If you are considering a gift of $250,000 or more, you may establish a named endowment fund through the Foundation. Named endowments may be established during your lifetime, or through a bequest. Donors may create a general endowment that will provide vital support to all areas of the Gallery, allowing the Gallery to designate support to the areas of greatest need. Alternatively, donors can establish a special-purpose endowment in consultation with Gallery staff. Donors of Named Endowments will be acknowledged in perpetuity on the Gallery's Donor Recognition Wall. In addition, we welcome the opportunity to work with a donor to develop appropriate recognition specific to the particular gift.
