Art Rental & Sales

Art Rentals & Sales

Art Rental & Sales is a not-for-profit business operated by the Vancouver Art Gallery. Since 1952, the program has promoted emerging and mid-career Canadian artists through the rental and sale of their artwork. All the artwork in the rental program is consigned by artists who receive the majority of the fees collected, while the remaining proceeds support programming at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

Choose from over 800 contemporary artworks consigned to us by local artists. Rental fees start from $10/month, and purchase options are available. Delivery and install can be arranged for you through our industry partners. Entry to the showroom is always free; see Reception for access.

UPCOMING: Mark Mizgala | March 27–June 9, 2017

Mark Mizgala’s photographs imagine a future where nature and humanity exist in harmony, and the natural world finds its rightful home alongside the outputs of human production. While we cannot reverse the effects of climate change, we have the opportunity to mitigate it if we work cooperatively. Mizgala was born in Montreal and graduated from OCAD University. This project was funded with the assistance of a BC Arts Council Grant. Presented as part of Capture Photography Festival.

Torrie Groening

Art Rental & Sales

Torrie Groening’s ongoing series, Out of Studio, depicts the makeshift studio of a traveling artist. Still life compositions reference both real and fabricated locations, employing the artist’s personal materials as props in each scene. Through her staging and creating of an impromptu studio as a setting for work, Groening invites the viewer to step into the artist’s view: a setting in which to contemplate, to notice, and to rise to the occasion of work. The temporary studios she depicts are set in a multitude of spaces: a room overlooking a Strathcona alley to the city centre, amid moss-clad gargoyles at the Vancouver Hotel, a space within a San Francisco conservatory. Now Groening has her sights (and tripod) set on another unique location –the Listel Hotel.

Presented as part of Capture Photography Festival.
